Oh deer… Hyundai’s ripping off TopGear!

Posted by Tim Robson at 11:35 am on Thursday June 17, 2010

Well, this will set the cat amongst the pigeons. Or the hunters amongst the deer… Hyundai South Africa has adopted an, ahem, unique approach to spruiking the ix35. And it involves characters you may have heard of…

Don’t worry – Hyundai hasn’t forgotten about our tame racing driver. It’s lucky it hasn’t depicted him as a horse. Remember, he once punched a horse to the ground. And he hates Boy Scouts.

I KNEW IT!!! The beings who make Hyundais….are NOT humans!!
That said, they did a good job with making fun of TopGear.

But what they were missing in the adverts were a few Raging Bulls and Prancing Horses!

Funny and well done. Still won’t make me buy a Hyundai though. Already bought the ix35 “rival”, the Tiguan. Much better car and in a way higher league to the Hyundai.

That was very well put together – and will probably go viral, riding on the back of Top Gear’s popularity. From a marketing perspective, it’s brilliant.

But, I still will never buy a Hyundai.

What’s so bad about Hyundai’s. They are practical, reliable and safe. Some models also have sat nav and leather seats and it still costs less than $50,000. So why buy an expensive Volkswagen tiguan when u can get the same thing in a Hyundai but it will be cheaper.

    I agree with Bradster,

I had a look at the Hyudai IX35 Highlander and ordered the Tiguan.

Paid about the same, got a few less gadgets, but a far better build quality in a more comfortable package

    Hillarious – well done Gents!

If Hyundais weren’t so cheaply made – I might consider one!

veyronslayer – I’d have the Tiguan anyday. Seriously, on my car I want a badge that is actually respectable and won’t cost me my friends. I’d pay extra just for peace of mind that I’m buying something from a German company (which means quality) rather than Korean (not-so-quality). I honestly cannot recall any good opinions I’ve heard concerning Hyundais, and that’s enough for me!

And here i was thinking this was a car enthusiasts site!
In fairness Hyundai has a serious race/performance heritage.
But they could never get thier cars to last the distance,Like there rd cars!!
“you only get what you pay for”

Just like Hyundai, this is a shameless ripoff of something that you would actually want to buy.
